New Waters: Robel Temesgen & Glomma

How does one encounter new waters? What does establishing a relationship with water entail? Robel, meet Glomma; Glomma, meet Robel.

On Sunday 24 November, Robel will entrust several parchment books to the river, including a 60-meter leporello stretching from the river all the way to the Guttormsgaard Archive. This act of greeting a body of water is borrowed from the story of a man who entrusted his prayer books to the source of the Blue Nile. Years later, the water returned his books undamaged, inspiring him to dedicate his life to praying for the embodiment of the Holy Spirit into holy water. For his performance in Blaker, Robel mirrors this act of greeting a “new” water. However, in contrast to what happens in the story of the prayer books, Glomma is expected to alter the books, which will be retrieved from the river and exhibited in 2025.

Begivenheten inngår i Robel Temesgens prosjekt “Practising Water: Rituals and Engagements”.

Arrangementet er laget med støtte fra Kulturrådet og Akershus fylkeskommune.
